The Story Itself

I really appreciated that the story rounded up all three characters in the prologue straight up...but then they decided to go separate ways in the very next episode anyways!?

stay together!!!

I was like, "no no no what the hell!?" when Kaori said this. But still, the things they did when separated merit some discussion because their action is driven by their intrinsic character traits, and not because some convenient dark power granted to them. Yeah, the Magical Noires event really disappointed me.

I like Suzuna here the most. She captured the fluffy suspects by making use of her clout as a model. What I mean by that is that she asked her fans to help her with that. Later in the story, she used her fashion knowledge to craft a pumpkin helmet for KSKN to wear to bait the Frenzied Candyfloof out of the town. Very clever use of her character here, she did something no one else could. Well, I guess you could argue Tsumugi could take her place, but the fact that there's only one character that could feasibly replace her is really saying something. And Tsumugi already has a halloween alt anyways!

Kinda ironic that Kaori isn't in the first place despite this being "her" event, eh? Kaori is indeed the driving force of this event because she feels more connection to Candyfloof than the other two characters because she's a dog beastfolk, and Candyfloof is somewhat of a dog. Without her push to save Candyfloof, it probably would've been just murdered by the Nightmare knights. I like how the thing that snapped Candyfloof out is Kaori's sata andagi, which is food from her hometown, but I kinda don't like how it's presented, if that makes sense. I don't like how Kaori seems to "just" kept bringing Candyfloof more and more sata andagi, without showing the audience HOW she got it. Yes, the fact that Kaori is a decent cook has already been shown a looong time ago in the Vampire Hunters event, but imagine this. Imagine if there was a scene in the event where all three characters worked together to make more sata andagi when Candyfloof needs more of them. I feel like this a massive missed opportunity for more character interactions between the three. And making treats fits halloween anyways!

And now...Ninon. I dislike that her most notable contribution in the event is just her blowing on her horn. The professor did give the group tools to help capture the fluffy suspects, and of course, they should use them. Suzuna was able to catch some fluff with the special arrows that turns into a net when shot, BUT she was also able to do her model stuff on top of that. Compared to that, Ninon is fully dependent on her tool. And Ninon wasn't particularly sucessful at using it anyways, it did work, but she didn't catch the fluffies, just let them chase her as she runs to the group so KSKN could suck them all up with his vacuum.

All in all, the story had some flaws, but I at least still read through all of it.

Difficulty

Not much to say here, easy. Probably because all three characters here aren't particularly intellectually blessed. 100% (1072/1072) comprehension.

Translation Differences

Dunno why they replaced the word scramble with assemble, aren't they complete opposites in meaning?

scramble

I guess the EN and JP versions are both representing two different parts of the story.

作戦 is gone from the EN version once again. The JP title doesn't have the words "suspects" and "all". I guess 大 could stand for all if you squint hard enough, which means they decided to slap the "big" adjective on the fluff and not the word "operation", just like how they did it on the NYSheffy event.

An "accurate" translation would sound something like "Halloween Saviors Scramble - Big Operation: Apprehend (the) Fluffs!". Yeah, sounds weird.

Wataame-chan's name is changed to Candyfloof. Wataame just means cotton candy. Nothing much to say here.

That's all for this blogpost, see ya on the next one.

jaaaaaaackuuuuuuuu

Next event I'll read is the OMitsuki event. And there's Yuki. Yuki has been a pretty eh character in all the events I've read that has him in it so I hope Mitsuki will do some heavy lifting there.
