"Happy birthday,"
my beloved Kokkoro.
Trying out a new style this time. If you paid attention to my Louise-Marie picture, this is something I've been planning for a while. I kinda rushed this one, though...I started working on this piece on 7 May, just 4 days before the actual birthday.
At first, I tried to be methodical when drawing this. You know, Loomis method and all that, and I also tried drawing how I usually draw and then just zooming in into the bust area, but neither approach worked. In the end, I just winged things, and in the end, I think it turned out alright.
I was VERY methodical when rendering this, though. I thought with her outfit being on the simpler one and it being a bust shot, the details had to come from the rendering. If you see closely, you can see that her shading is "outlined", I saw that's how professional animators render from a YouTube short. I tried it and it looks to be an upgrade, so I kept it. Line weight is also something I paid very careful attention on. You can see that the lines become thicker on the right because you can express light using line weight. Thinner lines for lighter areas, thicker lines for darker areas. Her chin has thick line anyway, though. Because I want the audience to look at her face first and foremost.
Here's one of the drafts I landed on. As you can see, Kokkoro was going to adopt a more...uh, patriotic pose, considering where the outfit is from. In the end, I decided to tone the patriotism down because I also wanted to use this for my new pfp.
"HENTAI Villainess"
So many details...this was one of the more frustrating pieces to draw. I had to re-ink my sketch twice just to make sure all the details went it. Usually, I only re-ink parts of the sketch to save time, but not this time.
The Umbrella. I had to redraw parts of it to make sure I depict Kyouka's head being under it properly. I thought I could simply draw it then delete parts of it, but nope. Had to make 3 separate layers for the umbrella. The top, the bottom, and the handle.
The angle. I don't think I captured it properly. Her pose comes from one of her skills where she holds out her umbrella and then goes ohoho, but I referenced the angle and background from Catherine from Dragalia Lost. You can see her right light being in the forefront. While in my drawing, Kyouka's right leg just looks longer.
In a more positive light, this is the first time where I deviated from the original design INTENTIONALLY. I sacrificed design accuracy for a better silhoutte. If you look at the original design, you can properly tell that Kyouka's skirt is probably held up by some wires underneath. I pretended those wires don't exist to make her skirt sway, making the silhoutte more dynamic. At least, that's what I thought.
"Chevalier Turned Familiar"
Wow, the alt designs for this month are quite something else...I never thought we'd straight up get an alt that's labelled as "bunny". They still tried to hide it somewhat with Maho and her Grand Dream Park alt since her suit is just her work uniform, but nope, Grace is straight up a bunny girl, fully intending on stealing glances.
This is my first time drawing the tits and ass pose. Although the ass isn't that visible because of her belt and scabbard, her massive cleavage is on full display. This is the first character that I've drawn twice! Between this and "Chevalier of Sloth", I think this one is a massive improvement. Making pretty nice progress in just 3 months!
The pose is referenced from Summer Celliera from Dragalia Lost. The background is referenced from Junko's awakened art from World Flipper.
"Our Esteemed Slave"
Kanon herself was easy to draw...but I think I was a bit too ambitious when planning the background. I managed to draw the "podium" she stands on just fine, but I had planned to have her hydra behind her. I tried and tried and eventually just gave up and drew a bunch of stalagtites and lava splashes behind her.
Her pose is a slightly modified version of her battle pose. I had her tuck her tail up and made her reverse-grip her sword to communicate that she's nervous.
The "podium" is referenced from Alrdred's art from Dragalia Lost. The stalagmite and lava are referenced from the generic 3-star units' background from Dragalia Lost, here's Xania, one such unit.
"Representative of the Onis"
This was genuinely frustrating to draw. Not because Satsuki's design is complicated or anything like that, it's because of her negligee/lingerie/nightgown. Not only I had to think about of how it would bend around, I also had to deal with transparency. Her mask also complicated things, since I wanted it to be on top of her face, covering one eye, the arm that's holding it and the mask itself had to be on another layer. In total, Satsuki herself consists of 3 layers, all of them I had to render one by one. It wasn't difficult, but really, really annoying.
Her pose is a slightly modified version of her victory pose.
Background is referenced from the generic 3-star units' background from Dragalia Lost. Here is Cibella, one of those 3-star units.
"She's studing...probably"
This is my second time drawing Louise-Marie. This is how the old one looked. A massive improvement, if I do say so myself. One difference I notice now is that I'm much more "brave" in doing different poses, I'm not confined to just drawing characters just stadning there. I also decided to actually show one of Louise-Marie's character traits here, that she's a perverted porn addict despite all the genius bravado. Wow...she's literally me, except I'm no genius.
Ran into no troubles. I also made sure the background adhered to perspective, which turned out okay...it's just Louise-Marie covers most of it anyway. Still pretty happy with this piece.
Background is referenced from Lathna's art from Dragalia Lost. The idea of having KSKN inside the thought bubble came from Valentine's Chelsea's art from the same game.
While the inspiration comes from the aforementioned cutscene, I still took peeks at Mikoto's art from Dragalia Lost. You can see the resemblance.
"Childlike Adult"
Another piece I'm super happy with. Just like with Eris, this was based on the cutscene during the first Alces event where Iroha one-shot the snake in the picture.
The only trouble I had was that I forgot to save at some point and lose considerable progress, that was enough to frustrate me into taking a full day break from drawing. Once I got to where I was previously though, it was smooth sailing. And I think the piece turned out better than it would had I not lost my progress at all.
The background of this piece originally had more details. There used to be two pillars behind Iroha, in front of the snake. However, I decided to tone it down because the last time I went all out for the background, that piece became my worst performing piece so far. I'm talking about Wielder of Pride. I'm not one to care about numbers and all that, but it's still useful data for feedback. And looking at it now, I can barely make out Lyrael's silhoutte. You could barely see the pillars anyway.
While the inspiration comes from the aforementioned cutscene, I still took peeks at Mikoto's art from Dragalia Lost. You can see the resemblance.
"Adultlike Child"
This is the first time I paid this much attention to the backround; I actually tried making sure it adheres to the proper vanishing points this time. I think I'm not quite there yet, but even when done kinda hadhazardly, it already made this piece more cohesive than my usual.
Another trouble I had was Sono's hair. Because her sideburns don't go past her ears, it exposed more of the head and made it look way too long on the first draft. I managed clean it up just fine, though.
Background is referenced from Formal Noelle from Dragalia Lost, pose is referenced from Seimei from the same game.
"Original Administrator"
This is the simplest admin, the fact that they released Eri's full-body art helps, too.
And this is also the piece of art I'm most proud of so far! This is the first time where everything is referenced from Priconne. The inspiration for this piece comes from that scene where KSKN encounters Eris inside her dream from the I Wish event. Also referenced Mimi's art from World Flipper for color picking the greens. Still technically Priconne.
Not much to say here, honestly. Pretty happy with this piece!
"Administrator of Lynx"
Aira's casual outfit is pretty easy to draw, despite the lack of reference image. I thought she'd have a weak silhoutte, so I decided to use her ponytail and tail to prop up the overall composition, but I think it would've done just fine without them.
Despite the simplicity...I had some trouble drawing the pose. At first, it was like this, but the legs being so far apart made the silhoutte way too wide. I also didn't like how the beer's and meat's distance to Aira's head are difference. In the end, I redrew the pose from scratch, and thank goodness I got it right.
I also had to redraw her face several times. The one you're seeing is the second iteration. There are more iterations, but when I was comparing all of them, this one was the best.
Pose is loosely referenced from Emma's art from Dragalia Lost. Background is referenced from multiple things, first, the Romancing Sarasaria event logo. Second, Haruhi's art from World Flipper, although only very loosely. I also had an image of the real life Taj Mahal pinned as reference just so I could have more idea when drawing.
"Administrator of Cor Caroli"
This is my submission for the Priconne Fes 2026 art contest! I didn't have to enlarge my canvas size for this one. Shinatsu's on the simpler side when talking about design. I decided to rep her because I wanted to go with someone I like but doesn't have that many art just yet, so I went with Shinatsu beecause she's literally me.
Most of the difficulty comes from the lack of reference image because they haven't released the fullbody shot of her in her casual outfit. They did release it on X when promoting the And I Will event, but it's obsructed by Rei.
The lack of chibi sprite also makes color picking a bit difficult. After using the color mask tool to do the flats, everything seemed off. I had to spare an hour or two doing some color correction. This was still a faster process than coloring everything manually, so it was kinda whatever.
I adlibbed the entirety of the lower half of her body. No chibi sprite, and her portrait has her leaning to one side, so I'm not sure if that's how the skirt works.
I wasn't sure of the background and was contemplating on replacing it with a simpler one, but I kept going and I think it turned out okay,
Pose is referenced from NYLevy's art from World Flipper. Background is referenced from Ku Hai's art from Dragalia Lost.
"Wielder of Pride"
I guess this is just the design philosophy for the Princesses? They're practically half-naked, but the details come from everywhere that isn't their outfit. In Lyrael's case, her wings, her braids, her royal equipment and finally, the "tiara". Well, I guess this doesn't really apply to Violet...she's being too modest, honestly!
At first, I wanted to use Lyrael's normal form, but I couldn't figure out how to make her tiny wings visible in the silhoutte. Her wings become real wings when in prideful mode, making it way easier to interpret. Her braids becoming zig-zagged also makes it easier to draw. Also, did you notice that some parts of her outfit turn orange, including her panties? I thought that was interesting. Here is an old sketch where she's in her normal form, notice the rounded braids.
The entire piece is inspired by Gala Alex's art from Dragalia Lost. Well, it's less about Alex herself, I'm mainly talking about the background. Notice the moon? Looking at that gave me the idea to make Lyrael's Superbia the moon in the picture, which is why Lyrael is leaning against it here. From there, I had got the idea to make her look sleepy, and then, I thought her being annoyed at being woken up and thus activating Superbia would be a good fit.
While isn't a direct inspiration, the pose is loosely based on Christmas Creditta's victory pose, where she leans on her chair and raises a glass of wine. When I was drawing Lyrael's pose, I thought to myself, "I've seen this somewhere before", and then I remembered nad used it as reference.
See those castle pillar roofs? Those are taken Gala Cleo's art from Dragalia Lost. I thought it was the easiest way to communicate that Lyrael lives in a castle."
"Wielder of Envy"
I thought Croce would be complicated, but then Nephi shows herself...
Another deceptively simple character. Nephi is practically naked with her chest and her legs displayed for all to see, but she still doesn't seem naked because all the details she has. Her hair ornament, the big skirt (?) she wears, and her snake, too. All of them combine to become a very strong silhoutte.
There's so much details that I had to increase the size of my canvas just to contain all of them. This is also the first time I took a "shortcut". See the volcano behind her? I only rendered the parts that the audience would see. The rest are unfinished. I know there's the concept of "cheating the camera" which 3D animators usually use and I, ideally should use it too to save time, but I usually go the extra mile since I need the practice anyway.
Her pose is simply her victory pose from the game itself, she also does the same pose in her homescreen art. Just boot up the game, you did roll for her, right? Background reference is Vagner's awakened art from World Flipper.
"Chevalier of Pride"
Well, this was a challenge to finish but it was a challenge I managed to overcome nontheless. Mecha characters are hard to draw for obvious reasons I think, plenty artists outright reject mecha character comissions. I also considered drawing Aerial Croce instead because of her smaller hands, but I decided against it for the challenge.
I went through several rough pose drafts. Here they are: one, two, three. Didn't do number one because I thought it would be too hard, didn't do number two because it's too close to her default pose, didn't do number three because her arms would cover her chest after adding the arm cannon details. The current pose was picked because her arms and boots are in full view, those two parts are what I considered the strongest in Croce's silhoutte, so the priority was to show them off. It's also picked for ease, since after drawing one arm/boot, I could simply copy paste them. Lazy, but give me a break, I was drawing a mecha character.
Pose refence is Sera from World Flipper. Background reference is Quinvere from the same game.
"Chevalier of Sloth"
Grace's design is deceptive. At first, I thought it would be a breeze to draw her considering she's wearing a skintight bodysuit. I thought my drawing was missing something in the middle of drawing it, that's when I realize she's also wearing a cape and a sarong(?). That's when I understood those two are there to help her silhoutte stand out since she's otherwise just wearing a skintight suit with some armor. Still overall somewhat simple.
Her pose was suppose to reference Grimnir's art from Dragalia Lost, but I realized very soon after the sketch was done that it looked too stiff. So, I bent her there and there and now she poses the way she is now. The direction accidentally went from "cool" to "sexy" this way, but sexy also fits Grace considering her somewhat mischievious nature, so I'm okay with it, I guess. Background is referenced from the generic 3* dark adventurer arts from Dragalia Lost, here is Althemia, one of them.
"Chevalier of Envy"
Yes, this is done before Grace. I didn't want to post two girls of the same element in a row so I delayed her release.
Anemone's design is pretty simple. Not many details, and the only detail I forgot was the vines going through and around her hair. Pretty much got it in one go otherwise.
Here is the rough draft. Compared to the final product, I moved her arms around for a bit as to show her tiny cleavage more clearly. Very important part of her design.
Pose refence is Jurota from Dragalia Lost. Background reference is Maribelle from the same game.
"Little Guidance"
It's only natural that I'd be drawing Kokkoro's new form.
Her design, while at first might look super busy, actually has a lot of symmetry. This is referenced in an interview that this was intentional, it's supposed to symbolize that Kokkoro now has her thoughts just a little bit more sorted out.
I started drawing this a few days after it was revealed, but took a while to finish it. This is because there were a lot of detail missings in the reference image I was using. You can compare it to her own in-engine portrait. One notable difference are the patterns on her dress and the long strings around her hips. When the unit itself released, I decided to correct those details and with her chibi sprite also being out, I decided to re-do the recoloring because I previously color-picked from the cutscene, which made things darker than it should be.
Here is the inital sketch. As you can see, I initally wanted to have a tree behind her, but I replaced it with her halo. This was a late addition because it was only revealed that she had a halo after the unit released. Why not both? It mad the entire picture look a bit busy.
Pose is referenced from here, Background from here.
The background is just the generic background of 3* units in Dragalia Lost. It's not exclusice to Johanna.
"Rindvlum"
I finished drawing this on a very awkward time considering what was happening to Wurm at the time.
Pose is referenced from here, background from here.
"Wielder of Sloth"
This piece was meant to be a shitpost at first. My inital idea was a picture of Violet riding Ho-chan for the CHICKEN JOCKEY joke. I abandoned the sketch because I couldn't figure out how Violet's dress would bend around her legs. I may or may not revisit this in the future.
