tl;dr

• Basic "save the business!" story. The point of the story is to make Miyako less of a cunt...and she does learn!
• I like the irony of someone that is dead trying to keep something alive.
• Mahiru's and Rino's contribution here makes sense, but feels basic.
• For Rino specifically, I think they forgot to give her "arc" here a resolution.

• Mahiru and Rino in the same event is a recipe for disaster.
• ...Not really. There's only 2 spoonerism lines I missed, and that was all the spoonerism there was.
• What's up with that 14-line long loredump on the Christmas Sweets Contest?
• Easy event otherwise, the main character is a 14-year old after all.

• Christmas is censored. That's all there is to it.

The Story Itself

Basic story QRD, go! Miyako randomly goes into a sweets store, got fed some pudding, and returns to the same store in Christmas. The old lady that manages the store tells her she's planning to EoS the store, Miyako is saddened, KSKN and Mahiru find out, then Mahiru gives the old lady a flier to Landosol's annual Christmas Sweets Contest where the winner will have their sweets sponsored. They run into Rino who's also participating...only for her to join the group after realizing that her crepes will just get BTFO'd by the old lady.

From the get go, the juxtaposition of a dead ghost trying to keep something alive is pretty funny to me. The old lady even said that maybe she could play together with Miyako once she passes, but Miyako doesn't want that, stating who'd make pudding for her if she's dead.

Early in the story when Miyako was demanding pudding, she started off rude. The old lady then told her no more pudding for her until she says please. Miyako immediately complies.

Later on, the group goes to a remote village since they couldn't compete with the participants in Landosol employing KMR tactics like making limited-time sweets to attract more costumers. The kids there like it, perhaps a bit too much, and Miyako steps in to tell them...

Yup, that's what the old lady previously told her. Also, I know いただきます isn't exactly saying "please". It's usually translated as "thanks for the food".

All three characters' contribution here makes sense. Miyako, being a ghost, helps advertise the old lady's stand by just floating around, attracting costumers. It's even in the event's title. However, this backfires, people were indeed attracted, but they went for other stands near them anyways because of the previously mentioned tactics.

Mahiru provides the ingredients for the sweets. May seem basic, but this is something she can only do, being the guildmaster of Elizabeth Park and all. Rino joined the competition so she could raise more money by getting her crepe stand's name out there to buy KSKN a Christmas present.

Fast forward to the end of the story...I don't think she ended up getting the present for KSKN? The story just ends with Mahiru and Rino helping out the now-revived store. They really could've done more for Rino in this event starting by giving her, you know, an actual resolution. It doesn't even have to be a literal store-bought present since by this point she gave up on the money anyways. She could've say, made a new crepe with all the knowledge she earned by working alongside the old lady or something like that. Handmade presents are more soulful anyways, and I really thought this was how the story was gonna end. Instead, Rino just gets nothing.

I believe the writing team learned from this, though. Just a year later, in the Happy Happening (XYori) event, even though the focus was on the angel twins, Yori did get her wish of playing games with KSKN at the end of the story.

Difficulty

Here are the spoonerism lines I missed.

• She meant "wisdom comes with age", the messed up version has something to do with tortoises, I genuinely don't understand.

• She meant "what comes around goes around". In the good way, though, as in if you do good, good will come for you. The messed up version is something like "it's dishonorable to hit someone on their weak points"...I think.

I THINK there's one more spoonerism, but I forgot to mark it and can't be bothered to find it again.

Next one isn't hard, but I'm going to complain about it because this specific was super tedious to get through.

And this is only 5 lines shown out 14, it's a lore dump of how the Christmas Sweets Contest came to be. Basically, people celebrated Christmas, people started to forget, the spirit got pissed, and people made sweets to appease the spirit, and thus it became a tradition. I really wish a named character did the explaining instead of a random-ass NPC at the very least. Yukari worked as one of the organizers, why not have her do the explaining? At least that way I don't have to hear the guy's voice.

952/954 (99%) comprehended. The two lines missed are the spoonerisms.

Also, just for transparency, I discovered a new way to count the total lines in an event. I just noticed I could do ctrl + f voice in the estertion site to count how many lines are there in an episode.

This is much faster way for me to count since I don't have to copy every single line to a sheet and then use =counta, but it comes at the cost of not counting non-voiced lines. I will count this way from on, so, this means the total count will be around ~20 less since narration lines are KSKN choices aren't counted. I figured this is an okay compromise since the voiced lines are the ones that matter the most anyways.

Lines within an animated cutscenes will still be counted manually according to the subtitle file, there's usually only 2 cutscenes per event anyways, so this doesn't really affect anything.

Translation Differences

Well, what do you want me to say here? The tl;dr already covered everything. I guess you could say まごころ (真心) doesn't exactly translate to kindness. "The Flying Girl and the Sweets of Devotion" or "The Flying Girl and the Sweets of Sincerity" could sound better, but I don't really mind the official translation.
