The Story Itself

I wasn't actually aware Ameth and Nebbia were sisters. I wonder if they're actually or related or this is a Shizuru/Rino situation? Regardless, right off the gate, the game made it obvious that they were sisters, or at least close enough to call each other that, by showing how a normal sibling interaction is like.

Was funny as hell. As someone with 2 little brothers, I can tell you that's how it usually goes.

Some other characters make an appearance, namely Rei, Misogi and Kuuka. I like how the group asked Rei to help fish up the Thunnus that ate Nebbia, it's fitting since Rei fishes for a hobby. I like how they ask Misogi to sus out Nebbia's planted traps, but not before bribing her away from Nebbia, which is fitting since pranking and being a child is kinda Misogi's entire character. I like how they used Kuuka to tank for Homare, there's a little bit of gameplay-and-story integration here. SKuuka is still a magic tank, right? I didn't really read her kit too closely other than the stun which she got from her UE. Apparently, it can stun even position 5 SSaren, looking forward to giving her her UE after the event rerun. Er, getting a bit off-topic here...

There's also Pecorine and Jun, but their inclusion here don't really resonate with me since they spend most of the story separated from the main group. Just writing this bit here to acknowledge their presence.

If you've been keeping up with my blogposts, you'd probably notice a trend where I usually criticize moments where the story just mentions something without showing it. When Fio goes after Nebbia in the generator, the story just cuts to the part where they're successful. Usually, things like these wouldn't sit well with me, this is a VISUAL novel. But this time, I'm glad they just skipped that part because I almost lost interest when they suddenly started exposition dumping why going into the generator is dangerous. I think the gist here is that there's just so much flow of data in there because it was used to be used by Kaiser Insight, and if one isn't careful, their existence (Fio specifically used 存在) could get swept away.

In the end, this was a very enjoyable, light-hearted story. A great contrast to the first summer event of this year, which was also good, but took a more serious approach. I'm also glad the writers knew when to cut things short when the little bit of seriousness in this event started to drag.

Well, it's a summer event, so it being easy is very much expected. 1224/1225 lines comprehended, which is so close to 100%...

The specific line I missed is this one:

itaka

I know she's basically saying "so she's been inside the mouth...!", but what's いたか?魚、口、中 are just the kanjis which are simple enough. の and に are the particles, and らか is basically saying "being". (I don't exactly know what is that lol, but Yomichan brought that up.)

Looking up いたか gave me words completely unrelated to fishing.

As for Homare's eyes, they used...a fruit to refer to them?

dragon eyes

Hovering over 龍眼 brings this up. Btw, Yomichan works on this site, so if you have it installed, you can also try it here.

longan

What the hell!? And Googling that got me this.

i guess

And that was the of story how a summer event from the game Princess Connect Re: Dive! tricked me into learning fruits.

That's all for this time. See ya on the next blogpost.

sisters

I kinda lied about my little brothers. We used to be like that, indeed, but we're busy with our own things nowadays. Oh well, that's life.
