The Story Itself

I've always wanted to see another desert-themed event that takes place lawless desert town to contrast Salasaria's monarchy. Team Gurogo is basically this, except they're in Gio Gehenna and not Astraea's desert. We learn from this that as powerful as Nephi is, she still doesn't rule the entirety of Gio Gehenna and there indeed are people outside her jurisdiction. Anyways, I just want to acknowledge this bit worldbuilding. Still, I care more about the girls inside said world rather than the world itself, so let's get to that.

After Fubuki flirted her way into Team Gurogo's hideout, Yamato immediately got to work. While Mad Joe is busy playing King's Game with Fubuki and Wakana and absolutely losing to his delight, Yamato snuck into his room and found a document listing all Team Gurogo's members...and their weaknesses. Yamato was confused as to why a gang would have any sort of documents at all, let alone having all their weaknesses in one neat place for her to learn about, but she quickly noticed that Mad Joe requested to Fubuki that his tank as fast possible, which corresponds to his weakness being that he's slow. From here, the sisters learn that the reason why Team Gurogo rides tanks is to cover their weaknesses.

weakness

Quiet the brainwork for the leader of the guild that kept jobbing in the main story, no? However, we then learn the reason why they kept jobbing is not because they're incompetent, as Yamato has shown here, Bandit Sisters has a good head leading them, but because Wakana is intentionally sabotaging them. Yamato has always been a rowdy girl in real life, and Wakana has always been the one keeping her in check. They went into Astrum so Yamato has a world where she can fuck around, but Wakana is still worried that a day where Yamato goes too far will come. She thought Yamato was going to use the stolen treasure to simply rebuild the Bandit Shark so they have somewhere to live. Turns out, Yamato wants to pimp out her ride even more and keep raiding, so Wakana sabotaged her again.

saboteur

After Wakana pressed the fuel eject button instead of the boost button during their escape, the Bandit Sisters were captured. Yamato is nowhere to be seen, KSKN and Wakana are locked up, while Fubuki is slaving away fixing all the tanks. Yamato returns, pissed at Wakana. However, she isn't pissed at the fact that Wakana stopped her, she is pissed at the fact that Wakana did so sneakily behind her back, saying that it's different than how Wakana used to do it. Spike comes to the rescue and breaks out KSKN and Wakana, and Wakana immediately goes...

Yamato responds...

From here, we learn that Wakana used to be more direct in trying to stop Yamato from fucking around too much and that Yamato prefers being told outright that she's being a shithead rather than have her plan be thwarted behind her back. I guess even in a Bandit guild, communication is still important? Har har.

So, that's the eldest and the middle sisters, how about the youngest? While Fubuki's contribution is absolutely pivotal in this event, we're just seeing things about her that we've already seen in the main story. We already know Fubuki is quiet the sassy girl as she keeps calling KSKN zako this zako that, and she used this sass to get the sisters into Team Gurogo. We already know Fubuki is the grease monkey of Bandit Sisters, in the account that she's the one usually driving the Bandit Shark. This isn't something that I'd consider a negative about this event, Fubuki is still well utilized here, but I just find it odd she's the only sister we don't really learn anything new about. Maybe it's relegated to her bond stories since it's released at the same time as the event? I wouldn't know, I'm skipping her and even if I rolled, it will be a while before I start reading bonds in general.

Difficulty

The dialogue in this event is quiet rough, rough as in super informal because everyone here except Wakana and KSKN are batshit insane. I still managed to go through that just fine, but there are quiet a lot dialogue where I just went "oh, this means this, next" because I was busy and wanted to get my reading reps out of the way as quickly as possible. My point is, I most likely miscounted here, and probably miscounted in my favor since I wasn't in the right headspace to be as critical as I usually am.

Still, here are the two lines that I'm sure I'm I completely blanked out on.

what

I didn't even realized Fubuki was talking to a loaner through communication magic here.

WHAT

Now this I have no idea about at all. Wakana says that what Fubuki is suggesting here is too cruel, so it's probably just Fubuki being Fubuki.

946/948 (99%) lines comprehended.

Bandit Sisters

It literally says Bandit Sisters there, it's not Bandy. That's it. Go home.

...Or so I'd say, but there's actually some discussion to be had here. At first, I thought it was Bandit since I just thought the word Bandit was simply pronounced without the T (バンディ) in Japanese because that's just Japanese being Japanese. However, come this event, and the word Bandit is properly written with the T in the title (バンディット). So, I thought it was Bandy. But then I finished the event and saw it being literally written as Bandit in the latin alphabet. So, in the end, it's Bandit Sisters, right?

Well, there is one more thing to consider, the ED's song title. It's titled Bandy Rowdy Showtime (バンディ・ラウディ・ショータイム!!), and it's very obvious that they want to rhyme Bandy with Rowdy here. We'll see how they handle translating this when they release the song into streaming services. Will they try to make the rhyming still work in English or will this be just another one of those things that get lost in translation? We'll find out in 2-3 month.

That's all for this blogpost. See ya on the next one.
