tl;dr
The Story Itself
- The story's purpose is to introduce Medusa to Priconne players.
- The dynamic between Monika and Medusa is fun.
- Medusa's power is cleverly utilized.
- I'm not sure the purpose of Saren here, though...is she just here for the fanservice?
Difficulty
- Easy. Only 1 missed line and that's a proverb.
The Story Itself
So, Medusa. There are two reactions to her reveal. People who are excited and peoplewho are confused at the ones excited. Me personally, I did go "neat", but no more than that. I like her butt and her skintight outfit, but I had zero idea on her as a character.
Really early in the story, it's revealed at Medusa is looking for her sister, Stheno and Euryale (had to check GBF wiki for the official spelling). And Medusa is accusing Nephi for their disappearance. At the end of the story, they finally meet. Pardon me if this is wrong because this part is coming out of Nephi's mouth, but the Gorgon Sisters is one of the "houses" in Gio Gehenna, and they're one of the more "sensible" ones. Nephi is basically saying she had no part in their disappearance because of their decency, and tells Medusa to look elsewhere because Nephi and her spies already had the entirety of Gio Gehenna mapped out, and no signs of the sisters anywhere.

Just wanted to get Medusa's character and motives out of the way real quick. Now, let's talk about how she meshes with the existing characters of Priconne.
Most of the interactions she got are from her fellow Cygames import, Monika, and later, a little bit from Vampy. I wish there were more, but the few we did get are fun enough, in my opinion. For me, there are two highlights.
First, they're both small girl that don't like it when they're treated like kids. They have a little spat on this before they warmed up to each other. Monika of course, always wants to be seen as a militant, and Medusa apparently thinks herself sexy. (She's not wrong)

Second, this being a festival event, Monika and Medusa of course goes around tasting food. At one point, they encounter a candy maker, and Medusa requests a snake candy where two snakes are coiled around each other. This will be important later.

In the climax, after taming the giant snake, Medusa notices that it has nowhere to go, and offers to take it in as her minion. She gives it the snake candy that she requested earlier in the story to tie the knot and names it Medusiana. Monika almost interjected, asking Medusa what of her sisters. Medusa was fine with it, saying that they can wait. I should mention that the candy was just a regular candy, this scene is mostly symbolic. And yes, I know it looks like a double-headed dildo. What did Cygames mean by this?
(Image deleted by imgur. I'm fucking serious.)In the special episodes, Medusa meets Vampy and they show of each other's pets. Vampy, her Beth. And Medusa, her newly acquired Medusiana. Also, did you know that Vampy and Beth are officially known as Vania and Malinda in English? Another case of localization unnecessarily changing names.

Moving on. Medusa, being well, a medusa, has the power to turn things into stone. During the showdown with Kanon and a hypnotized Medusiana, KSKN and Medusa...got vored. Inside the belly, the two try to figure out a way out. KSKN gets the idea where Medusa turns him into stone so that Medusiana will spit them both out. Medusa was apprehensive on the idea because KSKN might not go back for a good while, but she eventually goes along with it, because KSKN believed in her.

Now, that's Monika and Medusa out of the way. What about Saren? Well, she's the manager of the festival...and I think that's it. Saren here felt really disconnected to Monika and Medusa, she even fucked off to the orphanage at one point of the story, only returning when Kanon started stirring shit. I counted, and there are three "fanservice-ish" moments between Saren and KSKN.

First, "wow look at how they pound the mochi! they must be a couple!"

Second, "you need to kiss him to turn him back!"

Third, should be self-explanatory.
And then it hits me, is this supposed to be Saren's "contribution"/"moments" in the story? While I don't mind fanservice (hell it's the reason why I play this game), I think they should've saved this for the bond stories so Saren could have a more active role in the event story. A reason I could think of why the writers did it this way is probably because of Monika's motive. She wanted KSKN to have a peaceful New Year for once because he keeps getting thrown into shit every year. I guess "spending time with Saren" counts as "peaceful New Year" for Monika? I dunno man, this makes Monika sound like a cuck.
All in all, pretty fun story, but the fact that one character did almost nothing kinda soured it a bit.
Difficulty
Not much to say here. 859/860 (99%) comprehension. The one line I missed is this.

Specifically, this part 玉に瑕. Hovering over it tells me the meaning is "fly in the ointment", which means something small that ruins the success or enjoyment of something. In the previous line, she's saying that while Gio Gehenna is full of brutes, they're still not completely beaten when it comes to magic or technological advancement. So...why use this proverb? Maybe Mia just doesn't like that Gio Gehenna is mostly muscles? The fact that Gio Gehenna is mostly muscles makes it so that it's not something small, too.
That is all for this blogpost. See ya on the next one.

I see, the ED is called Tiny Twin Stars because they're both tiny. Hah.
