About
Hopefully, I’ve made this site intuitive enough for most. I’m going to talk about stuff that may not be immediately obvious.
First things first, please also read the story yourselves!
The articles here are written with the assumption that you've already read the story yourselves. These articles are not meant to replace actually reading if you want to understand the story. First and foremost, these articles are for me to reflect on what I've just read. For the rest of you, they are for those who have already read, formed an opinion, and wants to compare opinions with someone else, that someone else being me. The notes in newer entries are not meant to serve as a "tl;dr" of some sort. For me, it's so there so I can remind myself of the gist of the story without rereading it multiple times. For the rest of you, it's there so that you can see how I've understood the story so that I can be held accountable if I get something wrong.
What is a comprehension score?
I don’t use the English patch, so missing some part of the story is just natural since I’m learning Japanese through Priconne. Comprehension score is how I gauge how much I’ve understood the story I read. It serves two purposes: first, so that I can see how much I’ve progressed and second: so that my audience know how much trust can be put to what I wrote. Nowadays, I can consistently get 99%-100% comprehension, but please exercise some skepticism when reading my older entries.
How do you count your comprehension score?
I take count of how many voiced lines in the story and simply deduct points for every line missed. If I say “99% comprehension (995/1000)” that means there are 1000 voiced lines in the story and I missed 5 of them. Why only voiced lines, you might ask? Because it’s easier to count that way. I already use the Estertion site to look up words I don’t know, so all I need to do to find out how many voiced lines are in an episode is to do CTRL F “voice”.

What counts as a missed line?
Lines that I don’t understand. If I don’t understand something and I need to look something up to understand it, I will still count it as comprehended. Looking things up is just a natural part of learning. However, if I have to look up every single word in a line to understand it, I will count it as missed. That means I screwed up somewhere.
Are you planning to write reviews for the main story?
For a writing to be counted as a story, it needs a beginning, a middle, and an end. Guess which one is missing from the main story? I'm not saying that I want it to end, since it ending would also mean the end of Priconne. It's just that main story discussions usually boil down to pointing out all the cool shit that happened, and wondering what's going to happen next, and then the cycle repeats the following month.
I might write a big retrospective post for each arc later in the future, though. Although for arc 1, it’s going to be less about the story and more about how well it was localized into English.
What is that supposed to mean?
If you’ve noticed, all content I reviewed are JP-exclusive, meaning EN didn’t live long enough to get them translated. For contents that did get translated, there are some interesting things to talk about, like how Shiori is much more aggressive in the EN version and how Kokkoro’s catchphrase “from the cradle to the grave” was an EN-only thing that got backported to JP. I will focus on the localization differences when talking about officially-localized content, I will still give my thoughts on the story, but it won’t be the main focus. If a content was early enough to get an English localization, it’s most likely going to be significantly worse when compared to content nowadays anyway.
Do note that I don’t plan to do localization studies anytime soon because right now, my focus is to keep reading and learning. It is simply something that I plan to do far in the future when I’m starting to run out of JP-only things to read.
